Exhibiting at State or National Fire Marshal Events? Help Us Put the ERCES Handbook Into the Hands of AHJs

Are you planning to attend, exhibit at, or even sponsor a State or National Fire Marshal event in the new year? If so, we invite you to join our special ERCES Handbook Sponsorship Program, which allows SBC members to purchase one or more boxes of books (eight books per box) at a deep discount, affix their own labels and hand out the book to local AHJs and Radio System Staff.

Codes-and-Standards-Work-Group-Thumbnail

The SBC Codes & Standards Work Group remains active with its members currently engaged in three main initiatives, in addition to the numerous state- and local-level issues that keep us busy.

 

The three major undertakings the group is remains focused on presently include the looming deadline for the next edition of the International Fire Code, proposed changes to NFPA 1225, and revisions to UL 2524. Read on for a brief summary of the activities shared during our December meeting.

OSHA Says Hard Hats Are Out, Helmets Are In
OSHA 

OSHA announced that the agency is replacing traditional hard hats used by its employees with more modern safety helmets to protect them better when they are on inspection sites.

 

In 2020, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports head injuries accounted for nearly six percent of non-fatal occupational injuries involving days away from work. Almost half of those injuries occurred when workers came in contact with an object or equipment while about 20 percent were caused by slips, trips and falls.
