We are a small department working on ERCES within a large corporation, “ I'd like to become a member as I am the Code SME for Company X, but the pricing for corporations is too steep to get approved since wireless is a very small part of Company X business”
Thank you for your thoughtful note and for your interest in joining the Safer Buildings Coalition. We appreciate the important role you play as the Code Subject Matter Expert at Company X and your recognition of the value our membership.
I completely understand the challenge you face in getting approval for organizational memberships when in-building wireless represents a smaller portion of a much larger enterprise. That said, our membership tier structure is based on the overall size and capabilities of the business—not just the department—because we recognize that larger organizations, even with smaller sub-teams, benefit from access to broader internal resources such as legal, marketing, accounting, and administrative support. These are advantages that smaller firms, often operating with only a handful of employees, simply don’t have.
For reference, our System Integrator Tier membership levels are as follows:
🔗 Membership Tiers & Application
- Small (1–10 employees) – $2,800/year
- Medium (11–35 employees) – $6,800/year
- Corporate (>35 employees) – $9,000/year
As a general rule, companies with over 1,000 employees, like Introba, are classified in the Corporate category. While we understand your department may be lean, the corporate tier is meant to reflect the broader organizational reach and capacity to support SBC’s mission and benefit from its influence.
That said, should you find an internal champion at Introba who recognizes the importance of participating in sector-shaping conversations around code development, school safety, and ERCES best practices, we’d love to welcome you on board. To help make that case internally, I’ve included a few value points:
- Sector Influence: SBC played a critical role in establishing the ERCES sector and is a leading authority in shaping the school safety communications market.
- Training & Standards: Our Complete ERCES Handbook is now bundled with top industry training and serves as a foundation for upcoming standards with organizations like BICSI.
- Brand Affiliation: Members benefit from being aligned with a recognized authority in the industry. Displaying the SBC Member Logo communicates credibility and a commitment to best practices.
- School Safety Initiatives: Our workgroups and events drive real impact. If you're exploring how Introba could further engage in this space, I recommend reviewing:

We truly believe that SBC membership offers exceptional return on investment, especially as we continue to lead in areas of public safety communications and school safety.
If you’d like to talk through options or have someone from your leadership team join a brief call to learn more about how we partner with organizations like Introba, I’d be happy to set something up.
