Pursuing the SBC Mission — A Message From Your New Board President — David Adams

Greetings, Safer Buildings Coalition members.
David Adams here - your new Safer Buildings Coalition President of the Board of Directors. I am eager to continue the work of previous Boards, and as we pursue our mission of solving for in-building wireless "dead zones,” I aim to focus on growing the following areas.
As my term as President of the Safer Buildings Coalition (SBC) Board comes to an end, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for entrusting me with this responsibility. I also want to extend a warm welcome to our incoming President, David Adams. While my term as President has come to an end, my dedication to the success of SBC remains steadfast, and I am excited about the future of our organization.

At the conclusion of a recent SBC training seminar an integrator that has attended several of our events came up to me to thank me. “Every time I come to one of these seminars,” he said, “I pick up another nugget of information that helps me have a better understanding of what I am really doing as it relates to ERCES.” After he left, I reflected on our conversation, and the concept of a common game many of us played as young kids came to mind..
"They can't hear us" - A Special Report From SBC's Philadelphia Seminar

As the 2023 SBC Seminar series enters the home stretch, we stopped in the Philly Metro area, specifically Conshohocken, PA. This is the closest we come to an SBC hometown so the three Philly-based SBC staff members, including our Managing Director John Foley, joined around 50 public safety and industry representatives at Conshohocken's Montgomery County Public Safety Training Campus.
The State of Georgia, as per the latest version off the 120-3-3 RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR THE STATE MINIMUM FIRE SAFETY STANDARDS, has now adopted NFPA 1225.
Last month, we announced our plan to host the inaugural SBC Town Hall on October 5th. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have to postpone this event. A new date will be announced soon, so stay tuned for news on the Town Hall front.
Even though we’re technically “between cycles” for many for the codes and standards that impact the coalition, the work group remains busy. In addition, we continue to grow, adding two new members in September. The turnout for our summer virtual meetings has stayed surprisingly consistent with well over 20 active members making each of our monthly calls. Thanks goes out to all the volunteers to help make this possible.
It has been another rewarding — and long — season of taking our In-Building Public Safety Communications seminars on the road. As always, it has been a genuine pleasure for SBC leadership to crisscross the country to share this important knowledge and, most importantly, meet old friends and strike up new relationships.
We have just a few more events to go before we pack it in for 2023 and start putting together schedule and updated curriculum for the 2024 seminar season.
